Counsel
This Counsel position is part of the Business & Legal Affairs team at Universal Products & Experiences (UP&E), a division of NBCUniversal. UP&E is responsible for licensing NBCUniversal's film and television properties for merchandising, publishing, video games, digital and interactive uses, and commercial tie-ins and promotions. The role focuses on rights research and analysis, as well as drafting legal agreements to support various groups within UP&E.
Key responsibilities include negotiating, drafting, and interpreting legal documents related to licensing agreements, ensuring compliance with corporate policies and industry regulations. The Counsel will collaborate with internal teams to provide legal guidance on business strategies and assist in the development of processes and templates to enhance the efficiency of the legal function. Additionally, the role involves managing and advising on corporate governance matters, including strategic transactions and local corporate filings.
The ideal candidate will possess a Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and be a member in good standing of a U.S. state bar. A minimum of 5 years of experience in entertainment, media law, intellectual property, or other relevant fields is required, with in-house experience strongly preferred. The candidate should have excellent drafting and negotiating skills, a strong understanding of intellectual property law, and the ability to provide practical legal advice in a fast-paced environment.
The position offers a competitive annual salary ranging from $150,000 to $170,000, along with company-sponsored benefits, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k), paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and various other discounts and perks.
