Compliance Operations Manager
Wise is seeking a Compliance Operations Manager to join its team in Hyderabad, focusing on reviewing higher-risk customers for the APAC entities. This role involves collaborating with multidisciplinary specialists across Product, Banking, and Operations teams located in APAC, Estonia, and London to deliver world-class products and services. The position aims to strengthen the control environment by maintaining a clear overview of high-risk customer portfolios and ensuring effective mitigation of financial crime risks while meeting local regulatory obligations.
Key responsibilities include reviewing and making decisions on cases escalated for Senior Manager approval, serving as the primary contact for operational teams requiring advisory on KYC/CDD matters, and liaising with regional compliance officers for complex situations. The role also involves defining escalation criteria for specific regions, validating issues related to the Senior Manager approval process, overseeing the quality of Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) decisions, and providing regular reports to the MLRO. Additionally, the Compliance Operations Manager will contribute to process improvement initiatives related to customer due diligence and review EDD training materials to ensure they address local typologies and obligations.
The ideal candidate will possess in-depth financial crime compliance expertise and commercial foresight, demonstrating a passion for combating financial crime while delivering exceptional customer service. Strong investigative and collaborative skills are essential, along with the ability to build efficient and effective risk management programs and communicate solutions clearly to a wide range of stakeholders. Experience in managing control environments and familiarity with regulatory obligations in the APAC region are highly desirable.
