Business Development Operations Specialist II
As a Business Development Operations Specialist II at Ursa Major, you will play a pivotal role in managing the capture status of opportunities within a designated business unit. Collaborating closely with the Business Development team, Business Unit leaders, and support teams such as Legal and Finance, you will ensure the integrity of the business development pipeline and provide regular updates to leadership. This position is based in Berthoud, Colorado, and offers an opportunity to contribute to a company at the forefront of aerospace and defense propulsion systems.
Your primary responsibilities will include leading the development of proposal requirements, such as schedules, headcount plans, statements of work, execution strategy slides, risk registers, and compliance matrices. Working alongside Finance, you will develop and maintain detailed cost models, pricing frameworks, and resource estimates aligned with customer requirements and internal constraints. Additionally, you will manage internal opportunity gate reviews, document pipeline statuses, and ensure alignment across executive and technical stakeholders. As opportunities progress, you will interface with customers during proposal refinement and submission, support initial contract negotiations, and facilitate the transition of awarded programs to long-term Program Managers.
The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or a related technical field, along with at least three years of experience in business development, program management, proposal development, or equivalent roles within the aerospace or defense sectors. A strong understanding of business development processes and proposal planning is essential, as is experience coordinating cross-functional teams to generate proposal deliverables under tight deadlines. Excellent communication and documentation skills are required, including the ability to create high-quality proposal artifacts. Familiarity with government contract structures, compliance requirements, and the formal bid process (FAR/DFARS) or commercial contract equivalent processes is also necessary. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and eligibility for a U.S. Department of Defense Secret clearance are mandatory.
Ursa Major offers a competitive compensation package, with a base salary ranging from $80,000 to $100,000, determined by your education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
