Associate Counsel, Employment and Immigration
AbbVie, a global biopharmaceutical company, is seeking an Associate Counsel specializing in Employment and Immigration to provide legal guidance and support for its U.S. operations. This role is integral to AbbVie's mission of delivering innovative medicines and solutions that address serious health issues. The position is based in North Chicago, IL, and requires a hybrid work schedule, with three days per week at the designated work site.
The Associate Counsel will manage a portfolio of U.S. business immigration matters, ensuring compliance with U.S. immigration laws and AbbVie policies. Responsibilities include advising on workplace employment issues, representing AbbVie in government agency charges and attorney demand letters, and providing counseling to Human Resources on employment and immigration matters. The role also involves communicating with internal clients regarding employment and immigration laws and offering legal support on AbbVie policies, agreements, compliance initiatives, and projects.
Candidates should possess a Juris Doctor (JD) degree and be licensed to practice law in Illinois. A minimum of four years of experience in employment, litigation, and/or immigration law is required, with five years preferred. Strong understanding of employment, litigation, and immigration laws is essential. In-house or pharmaceutical industry experience, as well as Human Resources experience, is preferred. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, capable of multitasking, and proficient in project management. Excellent oral and written communication skills, along with demonstrated analytical and interpersonal abilities, are crucial.
The compensation range for this position is $106,500 to $202,500 annually.
