Associate General Counsel
The Associate General Counsel, Global Commercial Legal, Aesthetics at AbbVie is responsible for developing legal strategies for the company's U.S. aesthetics products, including neurotoxins like BOTOX® and dermal fillers such as JUVÉDERM®. This role involves providing legal counsel to executive and senior leaders, guiding high-impact decisions across complex operational and commercial environments. The position requires a combination of legal expertise, leadership, and strategic thinking to shape business outcomes and drive initiatives that safeguard the company while enabling innovation.
Key responsibilities include serving as lead counsel to executive and senior leaders in AbbVie's aesthetics business unit, offering legal advice on new product launches, patient programs, marketing strategies, promotion, customer contracting, scientific exchange, and regulatory submissions. The role also involves providing substantive advice across departments such as Marketing, Sales, Medical Affairs, and Regulatory Affairs on a broad range of legal, regulatory, and compliance issues, including FDA regulations, the False Claims Act, the Anti-Kickback Statute, OIG guidance, the PhRMA & AdvaMed Codes, the Sunshine Act, the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, and competition law. Additionally, the Associate General Counsel will lead cross-functional legal projects aligned with enterprise strategic priorities and mentor multiple attorneys, contributing to talent development and succession planning.
The position requires a Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school and an active license to practice law in the job location. A minimum of 10 years of legal experience is required, with demonstrated expertise in complex legal matters related to commercial, regulatory, and operational priorities. Experience advising executive-level stakeholders, leading cross-functional initiatives, and managing or mentoring legal teams is preferred. Strong business acumen, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to balance legal risk with enterprise outcomes are essential.

The compensation range for this role is between $182,000 and $346,000 annually, depending on factors such as geographic location and individual qualifications.
