ASIC Validation Engineer
As an ASIC Validation Engineer at Block, you will play a pivotal role in bridging the gap between custom mining silicon design and real-world operation. This hands-on, lab-focused position involves close collaboration with ASIC designers and system engineers to debug issues, develop test infrastructure, and validate functionality, thereby enabling rapid design iteration and system-level development.
Your primary responsibilities will include bringing up new silicon on bench platforms, evaluation boards, and system hardware. You will debug issues across ASIC, board, firmware, and system interactions, develop bench tests and scripts to exercise silicon features, and build and maintain test setups, including lab automation and instrumentation. Additionally, you will partner with ASIC designers to validate functionality, work with system engineers to ensure silicon performance in target environments, and support early manufacturing efforts with practical validation and debugging.
The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, along with over four years of experience in silicon validation, hardware testing, or related roles. Strong hands-on experience in a lab environment, a solid understanding of digital systems and basic analog concepts, and proficiency in scripting languages like Python for test and data analysis are essential. Comfort with debugging issues that span multiple layers and clear communication skills for cross-functional collaboration are also required.
