Application Software Engineer - Relocation to Tokyo
Wayve is seeking an exceptional Application Software Engineer to join our Japan-based Application Software team, focusing on localizing and advancing our autonomous driving technology for the Japanese market. This role offers a unique opportunity to play a hands-on role in shaping our autonomous vehicle capabilities in Japan from the ground up.
In this position, you will be responsible for the bring-up and early validation of our AI software stack on customer hardware platforms, ensuring seamless performance across diverse system-on-chips (SoCs) and operating systems. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams across Verification, Release, and Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) partners to ensure smooth integration and reliable delivery.
Key responsibilities include executing software bring-up on customer hardware platforms such as NVIDIA Drive and Qualcomm Ride, porting and configuring Linux-based systems, QNX, and Adaptive AUTOSAR environments, integrating and validating drivers, middleware, and boot-time configurations, and developing automation for setup, flashing, health checks, and test execution on target hardware.
The ideal candidate will have over 8 years of experience in embedded or automotive software development, with hands-on platform bring-up experience. Strong proficiency in C/C++, Bash, and Python is required, along with a deep understanding of Linux-based embedded systems, including Yocto, systemd, bootloaders, and device trees. Familiarity with QNX and Adaptive AUTOSAR environments, experience with automotive-grade SoCs, and hands-on experience integrating embedded platforms into CI/CD pipelines and test automation frameworks are also essential.
This is a full-time role based in our Tokyo office. We offer a relocation package and visa sponsorship. At Wayve, we operate a hybrid working policy that combines time together in our offices and workshops to fuel innovation, culture, relationships, and learning, with time spent working from home.
