Android Engineer
As an Android Engineer at AppLovin, you will be instrumental in developing a next-generation social media platform designed to empower users and creators to share meaningful content, connect in real time, and build vibrant communities directly from their smartphones. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape core user experiences, including content creation, video editing tools, interactive features, and real-time communication, within a fast-moving R&D environment.
Your primary responsibilities will include designing and implementing scalable architecture and core mobile features for complex applications. You will collaborate closely with product and design teams to deliver intuitive, high-quality user experiences, optimize the performance, reliability, and scalability of the Android application, and maintain clean, scalable architecture with high engineering standards. Additionally, you will be expected to ship reliable, high-quality code in a fast-paced iteration cycle.
The ideal candidate will possess a BS/MS degree in Computer Science or a related field and have at least 1 year of native Android development experience. Strong proficiency in Kotlin and/or Java, a deep understanding of the Android SDK and modern architecture patterns, and experience debugging and maintaining large-scale mobile codebases are essential. Additionally, strong knowledge of performance optimization and Android platform capabilities, along with excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills, are required.
Preferred qualifications include experience building consumer-facing mobile products at scale, particularly in areas such as video editing or media processing features (encoding, rendering, filters, trimming, etc.), UGC-based platforms or creator tools, and real-time messaging or chat systems (WebSocket, RTC, push systems). Experience in large-scale internet or high-growth tech companies, supporting experimentation and rapid iteration, and a passion for building products in 0→1 environments are also desirable.
