Americas Senior Reporter - Distressed debt

Octus is seeking a Senior Distressed Debt Reporter to join its New York office. This role involves breaking news on corporate restructurings and collaborating with a team of journalists, financial analysts, and legal analysts. The position requires in-person attendance at least three days a week.

The reporter will cover corporate credit, focusing on identifying companies with near-term restructuring triggers and those experiencing dislocation in the credit markets. Responsibilities include providing subscribers with intelligence on stressed and distressed situations, in- and out-of-court restructurings, and post-reorganization scenarios. Experience covering companies in artificial intelligence, software, and data centers is advantageous.

Key responsibilities include breaking news on stressed and distressed debt borrowers across America, working closely with a team of journalists, financial analysts, and legal analysts, developing and maintaining contacts in the credit market, identifying market trends, writing insightful pieces for a sophisticated readership, and attending relevant conferences and events.

The ideal candidate is a motivated self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment, has curiosity about corporate finance and bankruptcy law, possesses strong communication skills for internal collaboration and source development, has demonstrated experience covering credit markets and bankruptcy, and exhibits strong writing skills with attention to detail and familiarity with corporate financial statements.

Octus offers a competitive salary range of $140,000 to $180,000, with eligibility for an annual discretionary bonus.
