Usability Engineer - User Science
Canonical is seeking a Usability Engineer to join its Design Team within the User Science division. This role focuses on integrating user research into the development processes and quality standards across the company. The position is fully remote and based in the EMEA region.
The Usability Engineer will be responsible for collecting and synthesizing user data through various methodologies, including A/B tests and usability studies, to develop actionable insights. They will create lightweight prototypes, data visualization dashboards, and automation scripts to facilitate the broader consumption of research findings. Additionally, the role involves tailoring research presentations to meet the needs of diverse stakeholders and collaborating with cross-functional teams to embed user research into decision-making processes.
Candidates should possess a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Design, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field, or provide a compelling narrative about an alternative chosen path. Proficiency in both qualitative and quantitative user research methodologies is essential, along with a passion for technical prototyping and scripting. The role requires strong technical fluency to engage with engineering teams and a commitment to building research operations and systematizing best practices. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are also necessary.
