Tax Staff Accountant
The Tax Staff Accountant at Milbank LLP will work within the firm's Tax Department, primarily supporting Tax Seniors in the preparation of tax work papers, estimated tax schedules for U.S. state tax filings, §1446 reporting, and non-resident partner withholdings. This role involves collaboration across all offices in the firm's global footprint and offers meaningful exposure to the tax compliance and reporting functions of a top-tier international law firm.
Key responsibilities include preparing tax work papers for federal, state, and international partnership filings, maintaining Passthrough Entity Tax (PTET) and composite tax schedules by partner, and preparing §1446 schedules for non-resident partners. The role also involves coordinating with Tax Seniors and local office staff to ensure consistency of tax work papers globally, as well as preparing and filing jurisdiction-specific returns such as LA Gross Receipts, Washington B&O, DC Ballpark Fee, and sales and use tax returns. Additionally, the Tax Staff Accountant will perform ad hoc duties and special projects as assigned.
Candidates should have approximately one to three years of experience with U.S. partnership tax compliance, including federal and state filings. Familiarity with Passthrough Entity Tax (PTET) filings and computation requirements is a plus. A Bachelor's degree in Accounting is required, and a Master's degree in Accountancy or Taxation is preferred. Strong attention to detail, effective communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment are essential.
The anticipated base salary range for this role is between $65,000 to $85,000, depending on factors such as relevant experience, performance, qualifications, degrees, and location.
