Tax Senior Associate
Canonical is seeking a Tax Senior Associate to join its finance team, reporting directly to the CFO. This role involves managing tax processes across multiple corporate entities in various countries, supporting the company's global expansion. The position is remote, based in the EMEA region, with an option for office work in London, UK.
Key responsibilities include preparing and reviewing corporate tax, VAT, and other tax returns to ensure timely and accurate filings. The role also involves developing transfer pricing documentation, leading tax planning initiatives, and acting as the primary contact for tax authority audits and inquiries. Additionally, the Tax Senior Associate will identify opportunities to improve tax processes through technology and automation, manage tax provisioning and reporting under IFRS, and monitor changes in tax legislation across operating regions.
Candidates should have an exceptional academic record with an undergraduate degree in business, finance, economics, technology, or a related field. A professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) and tax advisor certification (CTA, ADIT, or equivalent) are required. Applicants must have 3-5 years of relevant tax experience, preferably from a Big 4 or Top 10 accounting firm or a multinational in-house tax team. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, self-motivation, and the ability to travel internationally twice a year for company events are also essential.
