Supplier Development Engineer
Xometry is a leading on-demand manufacturing marketplace that connects innovative companies with a vast network of manufacturing partners. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Supplier Development Engineer to join our team in North Bethesda, MD. In this role, you will serve as the critical link between our internal Technical Sales and Sourcing teams and our external supplier network, focusing on enhancing supplier performance and readiness for complex, high-stakes projects.
As a Supplier Development Engineer, your primary responsibilities will include building and maintaining strong, trust-based relationships with our diverse network of manufacturing partners to increase their engagement and capacity. You will engage with new supplier partners onboarded for production programs, facilitating their success in navigating the Xometry platform and meeting customer needs. Additionally, you will coach partners on industry best practices related to documentation, finishing processes, and quality assurance, ensuring they are prepared for complex and highly regulated programs in industries such as aerospace, defense, and medical.
The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related technical field, along with a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in supplier development, supplier quality, or a similar role within a manufacturing or technical environment. A strong understanding of manufacturing processes and quality standards is essential, as are excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to build and maintain relationships. A problem-solving mindset and a talent for mediating complex situations are also crucial. Knowledge of special processes and industry certifications (e.g., NADCAP, AS9100) is a significant plus, as is familiarity with compliance frameworks such as ITAR and DFARS. Willingness to travel to supplier locations as required is expected.
Xometry offers a competitive compensation package, with an estimated base salary range for new hires in this role between $79,000 and $103,000 annually, plus an annual bonus.
