Associate Solutions Engineer, Aerospace & Defense
Xometry is seeking an early-career engineer to join our Solutions Engineering team as an Associate Solutions Engineer, Aerospace & Defense. In this role, you will serve as a foundational resource, supporting internal teams and external customers by delivering relevant manufacturing solutions. This position bridges sales, operations, partners, and customers to enhance various outcomes within the aerospace and defense sectors.
Key responsibilities include supporting quoting processes, organizing data, and creating technical documentation for complex customer programs, such as Bill of Materials (BOMs), Request for Quotes (RFQs), and specification reviews. You will assist in developing internal cost models and quoting tools to improve efficiency and accuracy. Additionally, you will coordinate with suppliers, track quality documents, and manage aspects of the solution lifecycle from award through delivery. Participation in cross-functional meetings will provide a comprehensive understanding of the full solution lifecycle, bridging the gap between engineering, sales, and operations. You will also lead a capstone mini-project aimed at enhancing process efficiency, such as automating a quoting workflow, developing a reporting dashboard, or streamlining a documentation process.
The ideal candidate will have a completed Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (preferred), Manufacturing Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical field. You should demonstrate foundational expertise in key manufacturing principles, including familiarity with CNC Machining, Additive Manufacturing, Wire Harness Assembly, Sheet Metal, and Welding. Approximately 3-5 years of experience in an engineering or manufacturing role, including internships or co-ops, is expected. Experience as a Xometry Aerospace & Defense customer or supporting such customers is optimal. Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks preferred) and interpreting Manufacturing Drawings and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) is required. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in managing multi-line data (e.g., Excel, Google Sheets, or ERP/CRM systems) are essential. Effective communication and collaboration skills, with a strong interest in bridging engineering and business, are also important.
Xometry offers a competitive benefits package, including 401(k) match, medical, dental, and vision insurance; life and disability insurance; generous paid time off including vacation, sick leave, floating and fixed holidays, maternity and bonding leave; employee assistance programs, and other well-being resources.
Joining Xometry means becoming part of a dynamic and growing company at the forefront of digital manufacturing. We value innovation, collaboration, and the drive to make a significant impact in the aerospace and defense industries. This role offers opportunities for professional growth and the chance to work on cutting-edge projects that shape the future of manufacturing.
