In this role, the Studio Technology Engineer is responsible for designing, deploying, and managing networks for shoots at both permanent studios and temporary locations. This includes supporting AV and livestream rigs, on-site technical equipment, and managing a fleet of loaner hardware such as laptops, phones, and satellite internet devices. The engineer also scopes production technology projects by translating creative concepts into technical requirements, timelines, and budgets, and coordinates the work across the IT team to ensure efficient execution. Additionally, the role involves carrying out engineering-level IT operations, including identity and access management, endpoint management, network infrastructure, and system integrations, while serving as an escalation point above the support desk. A key aspect of the position is leveraging AI to build and maintain automations and agent workflows, contributing to an AI-assisted helpdesk, and prototyping internal tools for production departments.
Candidates should have over five years of hands-on experience in IT, systems, or solutions engineering within a fast-paced environment, with strong fundamentals in identity, endpoints, networking, and troubleshooting under pressure. Real production or live-event experience is essential, with a solid understanding of the technological needs of video production, broadcast, live streaming, staging, or live events. Proficiency in setting up reliable temporary networks, including Wi-Fi, VLANs, firewalls, failover, DHCP/DNS/VPN, is required. Demonstrated experience in building AI agents or automation platforms, such as workflows, integrations, and internal tools, is highly valued. Strong organizational skills, the ability to translate business requirements into actionable plans, and clear communication with non-technical creatives under stress are crucial. A strong foundation in security practices, including data security and access control, is also important.
