Staff Software Engineer, Trading Platform - Charts
Topstep is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to develop a custom charting engine for the TopstepX trading platform. This role involves creating a framework-agnostic library that delivers real-time charts for thousands of active traders. The position requires expertise in frontend engineering, particularly in rendering pipelines, performance optimization, and API design.
The primary responsibilities include designing and building core systems of the charting engine, such as rendering primitives and domain features like drawing tools and indicator math. The engineer will own the architecture of the core library, including its public API, and develop React bindings to integrate with the TopstepX web application. Additional tasks involve ensuring performance standards, integrating real-time data, and maintaining consistency across various devices.
Candidates should have over eight years of frontend engineering experience, with a background in building or contributing to production charting libraries or interactive rendering systems. Proficiency in TypeScript, React, and Canvas 2D graphics rendering is essential. Experience with financial markets, including understanding OHLCV and tick data, is beneficial. The role also requires skills in performance optimization, API design, and the use of Web Workers for off-main-thread computation.
Compensation for this position ranges from $200,000 to $250,000 annually, with additional bonuses.
