Staff Software Engineer (Position located in Brazil)
KnowBe4 is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join its Platform Services group, a team responsible for building the infrastructure that supports all product teams. In this role, you will work at the intersection of identity, platform reliability, and developer experience, directly impacting both engineers and customers. This is a technical individual contributor position where you will lead through engineering expertise, sound judgment, and the ability to guide others.
Key responsibilities include developing session and identity APIs in Rust deployed as AWS Lambda functions, integrating identity providers such as Auth0 and Keycloak, and managing user provisioning and lifecycle services. You will also design and maintain cross-team platform SDKs, build distributed event infrastructure, and implement Infrastructure-as-Code at scale using Terraform. Additionally, you will provide technical direction through architecture reviews, design proposals, and mentorship of senior engineers.
The ideal candidate will have strong backend engineering fundamentals in a typed, compiled language such as Rust, C#, Go, or Java, with depth in one and curiosity about others. Experience with AWS serverless architecture, including Lambda, DynamoDB, SQS, SSM, API Gateway, and IAM, is essential. A solid understanding of identity and authentication concepts like OIDC, OAuth 2.0, JWT, and SSO is required. Proficiency in distributed systems design, Terraform at scale, API design leadership, GitLab CI/CD, and technical communication is also necessary.
