The Staff Software Engineer position at KnowBe4 is a full-stack role within the KSAT Architecture Team, focusing on the development and evolution of the company's core product. This role requires expertise in Ruby on Rails for backend development, modern frontend technologies such as Vue 3+ and Svelte, and complex AWS infrastructure. The engineer will play a pivotal role in ensuring the platform meets rigorous compliance standards, including FedRAMP Moderate, SOC 2, and ISO 27001.

Key responsibilities include leading the architectural evolution of major subsystems, such as GraphQL APIs and event-driven service communication. The engineer will deliver significant technical contributions across Ruby on Rails APIs, SvelteKit/TypeScript frontends, and AWS serverless infrastructure. Additionally, the role involves optimizing serverless background processing frameworks and architecting multi-tenant data patterns across various databases while maintaining strict tenant isolation and compliance.

The ideal candidate should possess a Bachelor's degree with 10+ years of experience, a Master's degree with 5+ years, or a Ph.D. with 4+ years of experience. They must have over 5 years of experience scaling production Ruby on Rails applications, proficiency in modern frontend frameworks (preferably Vue, SvelteKit, or React) with strict TypeScript, and deep experience with AWS services and Terraform for Infrastructure-as-Code. Experience in designing event-driven architectures and managing asynchronous processing at scale is also required.
