Staff Cloud Engineer - Infrastructure
As a Staff Cloud Engineer at NetDocuments, you will be responsible for managing and optimizing our AWS infrastructure to ensure high availability, security, and performance. This role involves overseeing Virtual Private Clouds (VPCs) and infrastructure components such as Route53, Content Delivery Networks (CDNs), firewalls, Web Application Firewalls (WAFs), and load balancers. You will also develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and automation systems, and implement disaster recovery and resiliency automation strategies across AWS Availability Zones (AZs). This position reports to the Senior Manager of Cloud Engineering.
Key responsibilities include operating and optimizing AWS VPCs, Route53, CDNs, load balancers, and EC2 instances. You will ensure the infrastructure meets high availability, security, and performance requirements, and proactively monitor and troubleshoot issues. Additionally, you will design and implement robust disaster recovery and resiliency automation solutions, conduct regular testing of disaster recovery plans, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to mitigate risks and ensure business continuity. Your role will also involve providing operational support during incidents, participating in incident response activities, and contributing to the development and improvement of incident response processes and procedures.
To be successful in this role, you should have a bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. A minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience with AWS is required, along with AWS certification. Advanced AWS certifications are a plus. You should be able to independently deliver features following story descriptions and acceptance criteria, engage in technical discussions with senior engineers and architects with minimal supervision, and have proficiency in automation tools such as Terraform and GitHub Actions, as well as scripting in Python, Bash, or PowerShell. The ability to offer guidance to other cloud engineers and work collaboratively within the team is also essential.
