Software Engineer Intern Frontend/Backend 2026/27

Canva is offering a 12-week Software Engineer Internship for the 2026/27 period, running from early December to late February. This program is designed to provide interns with meaningful experience and real ownership of projects, setting them up for future success. Interns will have the opportunity to work remotely or join their team in person at Canva's flagship campus in Sydney, Australia.

Interns will collaborate with their assigned teams to design, develop, test, and maintain projects. They will be responsible for developing and maintaining documentation for software development processes, procedures, and guidelines. Additionally, interns will interact with a wide variety of stakeholders from both inside and outside their teams to deliver high-quality work in a fast-paced environment.

Eligible candidates should be currently enrolled and completing their studies between 2027 and mid-2028. Applicants must be based in Australia or New Zealand with full working rights, as Canva does not sponsor visas or provide relocation for Early Talent roles. Strong computing and Object-Oriented Programming fundamentals are required, with proficiency in Java and/or JavaScript. A passion for learning and growth as a technologist, along with an interest in exploring AI tools to enhance workflow, is also essential.

Interns will have the opportunity to work on impactful, real-life projects from day one, alongside experienced engineers. They will be supported by a dedicated Host and Buddy to help them learn, grow, and navigate their Canva Internship journey with confidence. The program also includes a campus week in Sydney, where interns can meet their team in person and experience the Canva culture firsthand.
