Software Engineer Intern 2026/27

IMC is seeking a Software Engineer Intern for the 2026/27 period to join our Sydney office. As a global trading firm, IMC leverages cutting-edge technology to make millions of trading decisions daily in highly competitive markets. This internship offers the opportunity to work on real-world projects that directly impact our trading operations, supported by experienced mentors and a collaborative team environment.

Interns will be assigned to one of two key areas: Low Latency or Algorithmic. In the Low Latency track, you will develop and maintain ultra-fast systems underpinning IMC's trading infrastructure, primarily using C++ and collaborating with hardware, performance, and network engineers. In the Algorithmic track, you will create and support systems driving our trading strategies, developing algorithms for pricing and risk calculations, or building tools for analyzing and trading financial products, utilizing Java or Python.

Candidates should be in their penultimate year of study in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, with a minimum Distinction average. Proficiency in C++, Java, or Python is required, along with strong analytical skills and a passion for solving complex problems programmatically. Applicants must have the right to work in Australia or New Zealand and be able to commence the internship in November 2026.
