Senior Legal Counsel
IMC is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to lead its legal operations in Hong Kong, a key and rapidly expanding office within the Asia-Pacific region. Reporting directly to the General Counsel, APAC, this role involves providing strategic legal guidance and ensuring regulatory compliance in a dynamic, high-performance environment. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with the APAC Legal Team in Sydney and global counterparts to support IMC's trading and technology activities across the region.
The Senior Legal Counsel will serve as the primary legal advisor for IMC's Hong Kong office, offering timely and commercially focused advice on financial services, regulatory, corporate, commercial, and technology matters. Responsibilities include monitoring and interpreting Hong Kong and broader APAC regulatory developments, particularly concerning the Securities and Futures Ordinance (SFO), Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEX), and evolving China-related legal requirements. The role also entails reviewing, drafting, and negotiating a wide range of financial markets contracts, including exchange-traded and over-the-counter (OTC) agreements, technology arrangements, and key vendor contracts.
Candidates must possess a law degree with strong academic credentials and at least 15 years of post-qualification experience, including admission as a solicitor in Hong Kong. Business-level fluency in English and Mandarin is required, along with deep knowledge of financial services law and a broad understanding of commercial and corporate law across the region. Experience in drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements, particularly within financial services or technology sectors, is essential. A background in top-tier law firms combined with in-house regulatory advisory and transactional experience across exchange-traded products is highly desirable.
IMC offers a competitive compensation package, including a base salary and discretionary bonus, along with comprehensive benefits such as paid leave and insurance. The firm fosters a collaborative and high-performance culture, providing opportunities for professional growth and development within a global trading environment. This role presents a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on IMC's operations in Hong Kong as the office continues to grow.
