Software Architect - Data Platform
Harness is seeking a Software Architect to lead the design and development of a Unified Data Platform that serves over 20 product modules. This role involves working across teams to modernize data ingestion, processing, and analytics, while mentoring engineers and enhancing the product's operations. The Software Architect will be responsible for leading the design, architecture, and development of the Unified Data Platform. This includes working closely with senior engineering leaders, mentoring engineers, collaborating with product teams, and working with customer success teams. The role also involves building MVPs and POCs in areas such as data ingestion (streaming/batch), transformation, and analytics, as well as authoring functional and non-functional specifications and design documents.
Candidates should have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field, with over 15 years of hands-on backend software development experience, primarily in the data platform space involving distributed systems and microservices. Proven expertise in building low-latency, highly concurrent microservices for handling ingestion and analytics is essential. Deep exposure to both batch (Spark) and stream processing (Flink, Spark Streaming, Kafka Streams), as well as experience with data lake storage backed by S3, GCS, or NFS, and OLAP data stores like Pinot, Druid, or Clickhouse, is required. Familiarity with document datastores such as MongoDB, RDS like PostgreSQL or MySQL, and JVM-based languages like Java, Scala, or Kotlin is also necessary.
