Senior Staff SDE I

The Senior Staff Software Development Engineer I at EDB will be instrumental in designing, implementing, and maintaining the EDB Postgres Distributed (PGD) product. This multi-master distributed PostgreSQL solution ensures high availability, geographic distribution, and active-active replication for enterprise workloads. As part of a globally distributed team, the engineer will contribute to the architecture, development, testing, and documentation of PGD's capabilities, aligning with EDB's quality standards.

Key responsibilities include designing, developing, testing, and documenting new PGD features, as well as enhancing the performance and usability of existing functionalities. The role involves analyzing business requirements, translating them into executable tasks, and providing top-tier production support to PGD customers. Participation in code reviews and collaboration with team members across different regions are also essential aspects of the position.

Candidates should possess over five years of experience in software engineering, with strong proficiency in C programming and a deep understanding of PostgreSQL internals, including storage engine, WAL, replication, and catalog system. A solid grasp of distributed systems concepts, such as replication topologies, consensus, conflict resolution, and failure modes, is crucial. Experience with multi-version codebases, build systems, CI/CD practices, and proficiency with Git in complex codebases are also required. Strong debugging and performance analysis skills are essential.
