Senior Solutions Engineer - Automotive Production
Xometry is seeking an experienced and charismatic Senior Solutions Engineer - Automotive Production for a critical customer-facing role. This position supports Sales by providing perspective, feedback, and sharing knowledge learned from the front lines of the automotive and production engineering and manufacturing community. The role is a unique blend of customer engagement, technical expertise, and project management, reporting into the Pre-Sales Engineering community, which is dually led by Sales and Operations.
Key responsibilities include partnering with Account Executives to drive account growth and retention, discovering and executing major projects, and proactively identifying and addressing potential manufacturing challenges, including design for manufacturability (DFM). The role also involves assisting Pre-Sales Engineering with knowledge gathering and compiling competitive quotes, providing project management on complex opportunities, and creating cost breakdowns and statements of work.
The ideal candidate will have over 10 years of relevant experience in automotive manufacturing and program management roles, with a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a similar field. Experience using Xometry’s services from a customer perspective is preferred. Deep familiarity with the methods, materials, culture, and products of organizations such as Lucid, Rivian, Tesla, Ford, GM, and their suppliers/partners is essential. Strong understanding of manufacturing principles, including drawings and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GDT), is required. Particularly strong experience in injection molding is necessary, with additional experience in stamping, castings, forgings, and other common production methods considered a bonus. Familiarity with ISO9001, IATF 16949, APQP/PPAP, and other industry certifications and practices is also important.
