Senior Solutions Engineer - Aerospace and Defense
Xometry is seeking an experienced and charismatic engineer for a critical customer-facing Senior Solutions Engineer role. This position supports Sales by providing perspective, feedback, and sharing knowledge learned from the front lines of the aerospace and defense engineering and manufacturing community. The role is a unique blend of customer engagement, technical expertise, and project management, reporting into the Pre-Sales Engineering community, which is dually led by Sales and Operations.
Key responsibilities include partnering with Account Executives to drive account growth and retention, discovering and executing major projects, and proactively identifying and addressing potential manufacturing challenges, including design for manufacturability (DFM). The role also involves assisting Pre-Sales Engineering with knowledge gathering and compiling competitive quotes, as well as providing project management and oversight on complex opportunities.
The ideal candidate will have over 10 years of relevant experience in aerospace and defense engineering and manufacturing roles, with a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. Experience using Xometry’s services from a customer perspective is required, with partner perspective considered a bonus. Deep familiarity with organizations such as Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, Blue Origin, Anduril, General Dynamics, Moog, and SpaceX is essential. Strong understanding of manufacturing principles, including drawings and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GDT), is necessary. Particularly strong experience in CNC machining is required, with experience in composites, plastics, harnesses, and sheet metal fabrication considered bonuses. Familiarity with ISO9001, AS9100d, ITAR, NIST, and other common compliance and certification requirements is also important.
The estimated base salary range for new hires into this role is $101,000 to $150,000 annually, plus commission, depending on factors such as job-related skills, relevant experience, and location.
