Senior Software Engineer - FME
Harness is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our Software Engineering Insights (SEI) team. This team focuses on developing products that integrate with over 40 developer tools, such as Jira and GitHub, to process extensive software development lifecycle data and provide actionable metrics. Harness is a leader in AI-powered software delivery platforms, enabling teams worldwide to build, test, and deliver software more efficiently and reliably.
In this role, you will design, develop, deploy, and maintain critical software components within a fast-paced Java environment. Responsibilities include authoring functional specifications and design documents, understanding and owning complex system components, and working in an agile setting with iterative development cycles. You will also be involved in designing scalable backend solutions, diagnosing and troubleshooting complex distributed systems, performing peer reviews, and collaborating with Site Reliability Engineers and cross-functional teams to deploy software and address production issues.
The ideal candidate has 3 to 6 years of experience in developing highly scalable, distributed applications and backend services using Java. A strong desire to solve complex technical problems for end users is essential. Experience with relational databases like MySQL or PostgreSQL is required, and familiarity with SQL query tuning and performance optimization is advantageous. Knowledge of search frameworks such as Elasticsearch or SOLR, experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP, and familiarity with Docker and CI/CD processes are beneficial. A deep understanding of building and deploying resilient distributed software, excellent problem-solving and debugging skills, and experience working in short release cycles are also important.
