Senior Software Engineer, Backend
Engine is seeking a Senior Software Engineer, Backend to join their mission of transforming business travel into a personalized, rewarding, and simple experience. In this role, you will design and implement innovative software systems and APIs that contribute to the success of Engine’s mission, focusing on scalability, security, and performance. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Product and Data Science, to unlock new opportunities and deliver seamless experiences for customers. Additionally, you will lead key initiatives that improve efficiency, enhance system performance, and drive customer satisfaction.
The ideal candidate will have over 5 years of hands-on experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining highly available and high-performing distributed systems. A proven track record of building public-facing APIs and managing the complexities of versioning, deprecation, and consumption-based rate limiting is essential. Experience with Node.js, TypeScript, Kotlin (or similar modern backend languages), and AWS is a plus. A strong grasp of software design principles, scalability, and system architecture is required.
Compensation packages are based on several factors, including experience, expertise, and location. In addition to a competitive base salary, total compensation may include equity and/or variable pay (OTE).
