AssemblyAI is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join their AI Data team. This role focuses on building robust, scalable systems that power the company's AI data platform, directly influencing the training and evaluation of models at scale. Key responsibilities include designing scalable data platforms optimized for AI research workloads, building efficient self-serve data processing pipelines leveraging GCP's advanced services, implementing cost-effective storage and monitoring solutions for machine learning at scale, and creating flexible training resource management with intelligent queuing. The role also involves leading the adoption of cutting-edge machine learning tools and frameworks, streamlining existing workflows, enhancing tooling and documentation to accelerate team velocity, and implementing guardrails for cost, quality, and performance.
Candidates should have over five years of professional software engineering experience, with strong proficiency in Python and SQL, and a demonstrated ability to write production-quality code. A solid understanding of software engineering fundamentals, including data structures and algorithms, system design and architectural patterns, testing strategies, and code review practices, is essential. Experience with RESTful APIs, distributed systems concepts, containerization (Docker), and basic cloud infrastructure is also required. Preferred qualifications include experience with GCP services such as BigQuery, GCS, Cloud Run, and GKE, familiarity with distributed processing frameworks like Apache Beam or PySpark, and experience with workflow orchestration tools such as Airflow, Prefect, or Dagster.
AssemblyAI offers a competitive compensation package, including a base salary range of €141,267 to €184,512 for candidates in Germany and Ireland, and £117,159 to £153,024 for candidates in the United Kingdom.
