The Senior Sales Engineer at EDB will play a pivotal role in supporting the sales team by providing technical expertise throughout the sales process. This includes delivering presentations, conducting demonstrations, facilitating proof of value exercises, leading technical workshops, and managing technical accounts. The position involves close collaboration with Field and Inside Sales, Partners, Product Management, and Engineering teams to effectively communicate technical requirements between EDB and its clients. The primary focus will be on the UK and Ireland region.

Key responsibilities encompass engaging with customers and partners to drive technical discussions that support regional sales objectives. The role requires providing subject matter expertise to ensure sales targets are met, assisting clients and partners in developing training and enablement plans, and serving as the primary technical contact for partner engagements. Additionally, the Senior Sales Engineer will collaborate with EDB's professional services to create statements of work for deploying EDB solutions and offer product management and engineering teams insights on product usage and performance.

Candidates should possess substantial experience in relational databases, including active use or administration of PostgreSQL, Oracle, MySQL, SQL Server, Sybase, or DB2. A strong background in customer-facing roles such as pre-sales, sales engineering, consulting, or support is essential. Proficiency in English is required, along with experience in high availability, scalability, performance trade-offs, and security concepts. Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, VMware Cloud, and OpenStack is also necessary.

Preferred qualifications include the ability to conduct product proof-of-value exercises from initial requirements gathering to successful completion through clear planning and execution. Experience with containers (Docker), Kubernetes, microservices, and PaaS platforms such as OpenShift or CloudFoundry is advantageous. Knowledge of programming languages like Java, Python, Node.js, Ruby, or C/C++, particularly in conjunction with database connectors (JDBC, Python, Node.js, ODBC), is also desirable.
