Senior Product Counsel
The Senior Product Counsel at Superhuman will serve as the primary legal advisor for teams developing the company's next-generation products and features. This role involves close collaboration with Product, Design, Marketing, and Engineering teams throughout the product lifecycle, from ideation to launch and beyond. Superhuman, formerly known as Grammarly, is an AI productivity platform that integrates with over 1 million applications and websites, offering services like writing assistance, collaborative workspaces, inbox management, and a proactive AI assistant.
Key responsibilities include identifying and addressing product, regulatory, privacy, and other legal risks, particularly concerning AI agents and products. The Senior Product Counsel will develop strategies for handling legal issues creatively, build processes for scalable solutions, and monitor evolving legal and regulatory developments in AI and SaaS. Additional duties involve managing aspects of the intellectual property portfolio, supporting the drafting and negotiation of commercial agreements related to product capabilities and IP, and delivering training on relevant topics.
Candidates should possess a Juris Doctor from an accredited law school and be admitted and in good standing in at least their local jurisdiction. A minimum of 8 years of relevant legal experience is required, including a mix of large and small B2B SaaS or technology companies, plus some time at a top law firm. Strong understanding of data privacy, intellectual property, and commercial agreements is essential. The ideal candidate will have a history of developing a culture of getting to “yes, if…,” comfort with ambiguity, a mindset for creative problem-solving, and the ability to learn new things quickly. Strong cross-functional communication and stakeholder-management skills are also necessary.
