Grammarly, now part of Superhuman, is seeking a Privacy Counsel to join its Product, Privacy, and Policy Legal Team in San Francisco. This role involves advising product, engineering, and business teams on data privacy, security, and compliance requirements throughout the product lifecycle. The Privacy Counsel will provide legal guidance on global data protection laws, including GDPR, CCPA, COPPA, and HIPAA, and oversee privacy impact assessments to proactively identify and address potential privacy risks. Additionally, the role includes developing and maintaining privacy policies, internal guidelines, and compliance frameworks, as well as responding to customer questions and data subject requests in partnership with Security and Support.

The ideal candidate will have a Juris Doctor (JD) degree and be a member in good standing with at least one U.S. state bar. They should possess over five years of relevant privacy counseling experience, preferably at a major technology company, B2B SaaS provider, or top law firm. A deep understanding of privacy, security, and data protection laws, including GDPR and CCPA, is essential. Experience working with business stakeholders like Product, Engineering, and Security in a fast-paced environment is required, along with excellent drafting, communication, and negotiation skills. A CIPP or other privacy certification is a plus, as is experience with industry-specific privacy regulations such as COPPA, FERPA, BIPA, CUBI, HIPAA, and AADC.

Compensation for this role includes a base salary ranging from $225,000 to $270,000 per year, depending on experience and location.
