Senior Optomechanical Engineer
The Senior Optomechanical Engineer at Muon Space plays a key role in the development and integration of sophisticated optomechanical systems for next-generation satellite platforms. Working as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team, this individual will collaborate closely with optical, mechanical, electrical, and systems engineers to deliver high-precision instrumentation. Day-to-day responsibilities include leading the mechanical design and analysis of optomechanical assemblies, supporting prototype fabrication, and validating hardware performance through simulations and hands-on testing. The engineer will be responsible for generating detailed CAD models, conducting tolerance and thermal analyses, and overseeing the assembly and integration of optical payloads. Active participation in technical reviews, vendor management, and resolution of design challenges is expected.
Candidates should possess a bachelor’s or advanced degree in mechanical or optical engineering, along with significant experience designing optomechanical systems, ideally for aerospace or space applications. Expert knowledge of CAD (such as SolidWorks or CREO), finite element analysis tools, and optical engineering fundamentals is required. Demonstrated experience driving projects from concept through build and validation is essential, as are strong communication and problem-solving skills.
