Senior Machine Learning Engineer
Xometry is seeking a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to join our growing organization. This role is pivotal in advancing our machine learning capabilities, placing AI at the core of our business strategy. The successful candidate will be part of a small, highly skilled team that takes full ownership of their work and thrives on continuous learning and coding. This position is based in Lexington, KY.
The Senior Machine Learning Engineer will explore new machine learning opportunities, conduct research and proof-of-concepts, and integrate innovative AI solutions into Xometry's platform. Responsibilities include developing and implementing machine learning models to enhance cost prediction, pricing, and sourcing options for customers and suppliers. The role also involves evaluating emerging technologies, identifying areas for improvement, and ensuring the reliability and scalability of the platform. Collaboration with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, prioritize features, and define technical solutions is essential. Additionally, the engineer will monitor model performance, troubleshoot issues, and contribute to documentation to facilitate effective use of AI across the organization.
Candidates should have experience with state-of-the-art machine learning techniques such as transformers, self-supervised pre-training, generative modeling, and large language models. Proficiency in large-scale data processing and hands-on experience with deep learning frameworks like PyTorch or TensorFlow are required. The role demands a cloud-native approach with expertise in containers, container orchestration, and distributed systems. Strong software fundamentals, including design patterns, refactoring, object-oriented programming, and testing, are essential. Familiarity with SQL and NoSQL databases, database design, and data analysis is also important. Applicants must have at least 5 years of experience in engineering teams that build large-scale, machine learning-driven user-facing products, with at least 3 years leading cross-team engineering efforts. Strong project management and execution skills are necessary. Candidates must be U.S. citizens or Green Card holders due to ITAR requirements.
The estimated base salary range for this role is $123,000 to $159,000 annually, plus an annual bonus, depending on factors such as job-related skills, relevant experience, and location.
