As a Senior Funds Lawyer at Carta, you will join the Funds team within the LP Transfers function, focusing on managing the end-to-end transfer process for limited partner interests across multiple client accounts each quarter. Carta is a leading financial technology company that provides equity management and fund administration tools for private companies and their investors. With a global presence, Carta serves over 55,000 companies and 1.8 million equity holders in more than 160 countries, managing assets exceeding $250 billion.

In this role, you will supervise and mentor paralegals through complex LP transfer processes, ensuring documentation is accurate, timely, and aligned with client playbooks and service level agreements. You will serve as the primary point of contact for clients and counterparties, coordinating Know Your Customer (KYC) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) procedures, transfer documentation, signing, and post-closing actions. Additionally, you will own and evolve client playbooks and negotiation parameters, escalating material issues to the Legal Director while maintaining deal momentum. Building and deepening trusted client relationships will be essential, positioning Carta as the go-to partner for LP transfer work. You will also support business development by contributing to new client pitches alongside the Growth team and partner with the technology team to continuously improve AI-driven legal delivery tools and workflows.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in funds law, particularly in LP transfers, closed-ended funds, or private markets work, with the ability to independently manage complex transfer processes. You should be client-focused and commercially minded, capable of building strong relationships with sophisticated asset manager and investment fund clients and communicating clearly under pressure. Experience supervising and developing junior lawyers and paralegals is essential, as is the ability to manage team performance across multiple simultaneous workflows. A detail-driven and execution-focused approach is necessary, with the ability to prioritize effectively, handle competing deadlines, and maintain momentum. Comfort with AI-backed legal tools and a curiosity about the role of technology in modern legal delivery are also important. Licensure to practice in England & Wales or a comparable jurisdiction, with at least 5 years of relevant experience, is recommended.

While specific compensation details are not provided, Carta offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes competitive salaries, health and wellness programs, and opportunities for professional development. As a recognized Great Place to Work for 2025-2026, Carta fosters a collaborative and inclusive work environment that values curiosity, action, and personal growth.

Joining Carta means becoming part of a dynamic team dedicated to transforming private capital markets through innovative technology and services. With a global presence and a diverse client base, Carta offers opportunities for career advancement and the chance to make a significant impact in the financial technology sector.
