Senior Fullstack Engineer - Typescript
As a Senior Full Stack Engineer at Topstep, you will play a pivotal role in developing the distributed systems that enhance our trader experience. You will be instrumental in defining and evolving the architecture that underpins our payments and purchasing platform, ensuring its reliability, scalability, and clarity as our ecosystem expands.
Your primary responsibilities will include designing, building, and operating cloud-native applications with a strong emphasis on reliability, safe deployments, and operational simplicity. You will embed automated testing, observability, and operational ownership into every stage of feature delivery. Additionally, you will proactively identify and resolve issues to maintain platform stability and performance, and collaborate with product engineering teams to champion event-driven best practices and deliver scalable, resilient solutions.
The ideal candidate will have over five years of experience building and operating production-grade systems with user-facing APIs, demonstrating a significant impact on scalability and reliability. A solid full-stack foundation is essential, with strengths in backend API design using TypeScript, GraphQL, and REST, as well as modern frontend development with React, Next.js, and TypeScript. Deep expertise in designing and operating scalable, distributed systems, including event-driven architectures and message queues, is required. Strong database fundamentals, particularly with PostgreSQL or SQL Server, and excellent communication skills are also necessary.
Topstep offers a competitive base salary ranging from $157,000 to $193,000 annually, with eligibility for a performance-based bonus. The compensation package includes seven company-paid holidays, generous family leave, front-loaded paid time off, competitive 401(k) matching, and health, dental, and vision insurance for full-time employees. Vacations are encouraged, with a bonus for taking five consecutive days, and the company contributes towards food, groceries, health, and wellness.
