Senior Electrical Engineer
Voyager Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Products line in San Diego, CA. This role focuses on designing cutting-edge components for space and national security applications, including Software Defined Radios, Digital Processing Systems, Space Rated Cameras, Star Trackers, and Laser Communications. The position reports to the VP of Product Design and is part of the Electrical Engineering team.
The Senior Electrical Engineer will be responsible for deriving and documenting circuit board requirements from system-level specifications. Key tasks include creating schematic drawings and functional/design specifications for complex high-speed Printed Circuit Board Assemblies (PCBAs), as well as overseeing or performing the layout of these PCBs. The role also involves assisting with the manufacturing of complex PCBAs, collaborating with signal integrity, mechanical, and power teams during board design and testing, and developing test plans and procedures to ensure performance meets specifications. Additionally, the engineer will validate designs, troubleshoot, and test complex circuit boards, support internal and external design reviews, and participate in proposals and trade studies.
Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Design, or a related discipline, along with at least 7 years of experience designing high-speed printed circuit boards. A solid understanding of digital logic, signal integrity, power circuitry, and high-speed PCB design and simulation techniques is essential. Experience with FPGAs/PLDs, Ethernet PHYs, high-speed memories, PLLs, voltage regulators, and switching is required. Knowledge of computer and system architecture, board simulations, processors, DSPs, and associated interfaces is also necessary. Candidates should have experience in projects from bring-up through production ramp, creating and reviewing validation/diagnostic test plans, and developing tests and debugging in the lab. The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance is mandatory.
