Senior Data Scientist, Costing
Xometry is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to join our sourcing team. This role focuses on developing predictive models to enhance our digital marketplace, which connects innovative thinkers with manufacturers worldwide. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in optimizing our platform's capabilities, ensuring efficient and accurate manufacturing solutions for our clients.
The Senior Data Scientist will be responsible for utilizing machine learning principles to create effective predictive models. Key tasks include preparing, cleaning, and sampling data for model development, leveraging cloud resources such as Amazon Web Services for data processing, and extracting data from databases like Snowflake. Additionally, the role involves using data analysis and visualization tools, including SQL, Python, Jupyter Notebooks, and Looker, to inform business strategies. The candidate will be expected to iterate solutions in a fast-paced environment, solve complex problems, and collaborate within a team that values continuous learning.
Candidates must possess a bachelor's degree, preferably in applied mathematics, computer science, natural sciences, or engineering. An M.S. or Ph.D. in a related field is highly desirable. A minimum of five years of experience in machine learning, statistical modeling, and optimization techniques is required. Proficiency in Python, particularly with libraries such as pandas, numpy, SciPy, and scikit-learn, is essential. A strong foundation in linear algebra and statistics is necessary, along with familiarity with scientific software principles, including version control and reproducibility. Experience in the manufacturing industry is preferred. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or Green Card holders due to ITAR requirements.
The estimated base salary range for this position is $140,000 to $182,000 annually, with potential for commission or annual bonuses, depending on factors such as job-related skills, relevant experience, and location.
