Senior Counsel, Commercial Legal

Coinbase is seeking a Senior Counsel to join its Commercial Legal team, focusing on pioneering payments agreements within the cryptocurrency industry. This role offers the opportunity to work on innovative legal matters that set industry standards.

The Senior Counsel will be responsible for negotiating unique, customized agreements with strategic partners and sophisticated counterparts in the payments and digital currency sectors. This includes providing comprehensive legal guidance throughout the product lifecycle, from ideation to launch and beyond. The role also involves staying abreast of digital currency and blockchain technology legal and regulatory issues, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance and address complex legal challenges.

Candidates should possess a Juris Doctor (J.D.) or equivalent, with at least 5 years of legal experience, preferably within financial services institutions or law firms supporting such clients. Strong negotiation skills and experience in reviewing and negotiating financial agreements are essential. An interest in digital currency and blockchain technology is also important.

Compensation for this role includes an annual base salary ranging from $224,995 to $264,700 USD, excluding equity and bonus components. Total compensation may also include equity and bonus eligibility, as well as benefits such as medical, dental, vision, and 401(k).
