Senior Counsel
Clearway Energy Group is seeking a Senior Counsel to provide legal guidance on procurement, engineering, procurement, construction (EPC), and operations and maintenance (O&M) matters within the utility-scale wind, solar, and battery energy storage sectors. This hybrid role reports to the Assistant General Counsel and is based in San Francisco, CA, with potential for placement in San Diego, CA; Scottsdale, AZ; Houston, TX; or Denver, CO.
In this position, the Senior Counsel will offer legal counsel on engineering, procurement, construction, operations, and maintenance, including financed projects. Responsibilities include drafting and negotiating EPC Agreements, O&M Agreements, Turbine Supply Agreements, and Module Supply Agreements. The role also involves representing the company in major transactions and negotiations, supervising outside counsel as necessary, and collaborating with internal stakeholders to enhance contracting processes and tools.
Candidates should possess a Juris Doctor (JD) from a reputable law school and be licensed to practice law. A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience at a major law firm or a sophisticated in-house legal department is required, with significant experience advising on construction, procurement, and O&M matters related to utility-scale wind, solar, and/or battery projects. Strong business acumen, excellent commercial judgment, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team are essential.
The compensation for this role ranges from $200,000 to $230,000 USD annually, depending on geographic location, skills, relevant experience, education, training, and certifications. The position is eligible for an annual cash bonus, subject to personal and company performance goals.
