Senior communications specialist - social media
Canonical is seeking a Senior Communications Specialist to lead its social media initiatives within the communications team. This role involves developing and implementing strategies that enhance brand equity and differentiation, engaging with a global open-source community, and fostering credibility through advocacy and thought leadership. The position is remote, based in the EMEA region, and reports directly to the Director of Communications.
Key responsibilities include crafting and owning communication strategies across multiple channels, ensuring meticulous planning, high-quality messaging, and timely delivery. The specialist will analyze and report on various communication channels, assess content performance, and evaluate campaign results. Additionally, the role involves supporting the growth of Canonical’s enterprise audience and increasing product adoption through effective social media engagement.
The ideal candidate should possess a deep understanding of best practices for communications in the tech industry and have substantial experience with major social media platforms, demonstrating strong creative judgment. Proficiency in social media management and analytics tools is essential. The role also requires exceptional interpersonal skills to build trusting relationships across diverse, cross-functional teams, ensuring alignment with campaign objectives, paid media strategies, and public relations initiatives. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with a strong background in content marketing, are crucial.
