As a Senior Backend Software Engineer at Wellhub, you will join the Payments team responsible for developing and maintaining the platform that processes millions of transactions globally. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams and payment service providers to enhance checkout conversion rates and streamline account management interactions. Wellhub, formerly known as Gympass, is a corporate wellness platform connecting employees to a wide range of fitness and wellness partners through a single subscription.
In this position, you will design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and improve services with a focus on performance, scalability, and resilience. Your responsibilities include integrating with third-party APIs and tools, participating in the development of critical services, and working in a collaborative, agile environment that prioritizes people over processes. You will also have the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies and address complex challenges on a global scale.
The ideal candidate holds a bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience and has a proven track record in designing and implementing RESTful APIs using Kotlin or Java with the Spring Framework. Essential skills include strong knowledge of asynchronous processing, message queuing, and retry/backoff strategies, as well as expertise in software architecture concepts such as event-driven architectures, Domain-Driven Design (DDD), and Hexagonal/Ports & Adapters architecture. Proficiency in automated testing, hands-on experience with AWS Cloud Services and Kubernetes, and a solid understanding of microservices architectures and high-throughput distributed systems are also required.
