Senior Application Engineer, CNC Machining

Xometry is seeking a Senior Application Engineer specializing in CNC Machining to join our team in Lexington, KY. In this role, you will be responsible for client quoting, supplier sourcing, production planning, and supporting on-time order fulfillment. The ideal candidate will have at least seven years of experience in a CNC machining quoting environment and possess strong competencies in CAD, multiple-axis milling, turning, welding, grinding, EDM, and technical communication.

Key responsibilities include analyzing engineering models and drawings to define manufacturing operations, making accurate estimations considering materials, tooling, and equipment, and collaborating closely with machinists, quality assurance, engineering, and management teams to meet customer expectations. Additionally, you will be involved in sourcing materials and finishes and estimating costs for prototype, low-volume, and high-volume quantities.

The position requires extensive knowledge of various CNC machining technologies, including programming and setup of 3/4/5 axis milling machines, CNC lathes, live tooling lathes, and Swiss machines. Familiarity with welding, grinding, wire EDM, assemblies, and finishing processes is preferred. Proficiency in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), reviewing customer RFQs, and effective communication with customers and vendors are essential. Strong organizational skills and the ability to operate effectively in a team environment are also required.
