Senior AI Product Engineer
StarCompliance is seeking a Senior AI Product Engineer to design, build, and scale AI-powered features within the Star platform, focusing on StarAssist and future AI-native capabilities. This role involves embedding AI directly into development workflows, ensuring AI is an integral part of the engineering system. The position is based in York, United Kingdom, with a hybrid work arrangement.
The Senior AI Product Engineer will be responsible for designing and building AI-powered services and APIs using FastAPI and Python, implementing structured outputs and validation with Pydantic V2, and developing agent-based and multi-step workflows. Additional duties include building RAG-style solutions for contextual data retrieval, integrating AI services platform components, applying evaluation techniques, implementing monitoring and feedback loops, deploying services using Azure, and contributing to infrastructure via Terraform.
Candidates should have a strong software engineering background in Python and/or C#/.NET, experience building APIs and distributed SaaS systems, and a solid understanding of system design and integration. Experience building production AI/LLM-powered applications, familiarity with Azure OpenAI or similar platforms, and understanding of RAG, NLP concepts, and evaluation techniques are also required. Additional qualifications include experience with ORMs, strong API and data modeling skills, experience with async Python, familiarity with Azure environments and CI/CD pipelines, and knowledge of Terraform and observability tooling.
