Risk Strategist, Onboarding and Compliance

The Risk Strategist, Onboarding and Compliance at Stripe plays a pivotal role in developing and implementing risk management and compliance frameworks for Stripe's Financial Account, Capital, and Issuing products. This position involves designing data-driven Know Your Customer (KYC) and Know Your Business (KYB) frameworks, ensuring compliance with global payment network regulations, and translating complex regulatory requirements into actionable technical guidance for product and engineering teams. The strategist will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Product, Engineering, Legal, and Compliance, to align on risk strategies and maintain effective communication with external financial partners to build trust and confidence.

Key responsibilities include partnering with Product and Engineering teams to design and implement risk-based KYC/KYB frameworks, developing compliant and scalable funds flow models for global payment networks, and creating technical compliance documentation that translates regulatory requirements into actionable guidance. The role also involves managing relationships across various stakeholders, engaging with external financial partners, and utilizing data to inform risk strategies and measure control effectiveness.

Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of experience in compliance, product risk, technical compliance, audit, or similar roles within FinTech, payment providers, or banks. Proven experience in designing and implementing risk-based KYC and KYB programs, working closely with product managers and engineers, and managing complex projects with multiple stakeholders is essential. Strong communication skills, experience in engaging with external partners, and the ability to use data for strategic decision-making are also required.
