EMEA Regulatory Counsel

Stripe is seeking an experienced EMEA Regulatory Counsel to join our legal team in the United Arab Emirates. This role involves providing strategic guidance on financial regulatory obligations across the EMEA region, with a particular focus on the UAE. As a key member of the team, you will influence new product development, engage with regulatory authorities, and help define Stripe's policy positions.

In this position, you will advise internal stakeholders on a wide range of regulatory issues, counsel Product Legal and Compliance teams on regulatory requirements for Stripe products, and support the development of policies and procedures to meet regulatory standards. Additionally, you will monitor financial regulations to provide proactive guidance on regulatory trends, collaborate with business and legal teams to address regulatory issues efficiently, and develop regulatory engagement strategies.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 6 years of experience practicing as a qualified lawyer in the UAE, with a focus on payments and fintech regulation. Strong skills in issue spotting, risk assessment, and problem-solving are essential, particularly in complex situations. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, integrity, sound judgment, and the ability to distill complex legal advice clearly to various stakeholders are also required. The candidate should be capable of multitasking, working effectively under pressure, and making sound decisions amidst ambiguity.
