Quantitative Researcher (Crypto Options)
IMC is seeking a Quantitative Researcher to join its Crypto Options team in Sydney, Australia. This role involves developing and optimizing trading strategies within the rapidly evolving cryptocurrency derivatives market. The successful candidate will collaborate with a team of traders, quants, and developers to enhance the firm's competitive edge in crypto options trading.
Key responsibilities include maximizing profit and loss through trading crypto options by adapting existing strategies or developing new algorithms. The role also involves identifying and capitalizing on mispricings in the crypto volatility space, managing option positions, and working closely with research and quant teams to analyze trading performance and continuously optimize strategies. Early ownership of initiatives and strategies to enhance the trading desk's competitive edge is expected.
Candidates should have at least two years of options trading experience, ideally with exposure to crypto markets. A strong academic background in mathematics, science, financial engineering, or computer science is preferred. Proficiency in programming, particularly in Python, and the ability to work with data-driven models and algorithmic trading systems are essential. An entrepreneurial mindset with a healthy risk appetite, competitive nature, and the ability to make fast, data-driven decisions are also important. A passion for identifying market opportunities and acting decisively, along with strong knowledge of options pricing, volatility dynamics, and trading mechanics, preferably with an understanding of the unique aspects of crypto options, is required. The ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure trading environment and collaborate effectively within a team of specialists is crucial.
