Canonical is seeking a Public Cloud Solution Architect to drive joint initiatives and technical engagements with major public cloud providers. This role serves as the technical counterpart to Canonical’s Cloud Alliance Go-To-Market Lead, collaborating closely with engineering, sales, and product management teams across both Canonical and its cloud partners. The position is remote, based in the Americas region, and involves occasional international travel for company events.

Key responsibilities include collaborating with product, engineering, and alliance teams at public cloud partners to align on open-source strategies, ensuring Canonical’s product requirements are clear and delivery is executed as planned, and maintaining relationships with engineering teams to integrate and optimize Ubuntu on public clouds. The role also involves acting as a product champion and point of contact for named cloud partners, coordinating with marketing and product teams on messaging, content creation, and launch plans, and creating partner- and customer-facing materials like webinars, presentations, videos, and white papers. Additionally, the architect will drive Ubuntu adoption across cloud products, advocate its benefits to stakeholders, deliver first-party offerings with subscription components with cloud providers, and lead in making Canonical products the default choice for cloud partners to build on, accelerating adoption by end users on their platforms.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding and interest in public cloud technologies, an exceptional academic track record with an undergraduate degree in a technical subject or a compelling alternative path, and confidence to respectfully exchange ideas. They should be driven to meet commitments and achieve results, demonstrate leadership and mentorship, and have a passion for technology evidenced by personal and business pursuits. Excellent interpersonal skills, curiosity, flexibility, accountability, outstanding business English writing and presentation skills, and appreciation for diversity in a multicultural organization are essential. The ability to travel internationally twice a year for company events up to two weeks long is also required.

Preferred qualifications include experience with Linux (Debian or Ubuntu preferred), Azure, AWS, GCP, DevOps, containers, and open-source technologies. A background in product management or a desire for a future in product management, strategic partner management or development experience, and an understanding of marketing and go-to-market strategy are also advantageous.

Canonical offers a distributed work environment with twice-yearly team sprints in person, a personal learning and development budget of USD 2,000 per year, annual compensation reviews, recognition rewards, annual holiday leave, maternity and paternity leave, a Team Member Assistance Program and Wellness Platform, opportunities to travel to new locations to meet colleagues, and Priority Pass and travel upgrades for long-haul company events.
