The Product Manager - External Subscriptions role at Canva focuses on leading the strategy and execution for launching, scaling, and optimizing Canva’s subscription products across mobile app stores and third-party partners internationally. This position is integral to the Subscriptions team, which plays a crucial role in driving a significant portion of Canva’s overall revenue by ensuring users can access paid features through various distribution channels.
Key responsibilities include owning the product roadmap for mobile and third-party subscription capabilities, ensuring they are reliable, scalable, and adaptable across multiple markets and use cases. The role involves developing a repeatable platform foundation that allows efficient integration, management, and optimization of subscriptions across distribution partners. Collaboration with cross-functional teams such as Subscriptions, Monetisation, International, Legal, Finance, and Engineering is essential to ensure cohesive strategy and seamless execution. Additionally, the position requires driving deep partnerships with Apple, Google, and strategic third-party subscription providers to co-create future product opportunities, influence partner roadmaps, and unlock new growth channels.
The ideal candidate possesses over six years of product management experience, preferably in Mobile, Payments, or Integrations. Strong partnership and negotiation skills are essential, with experience influencing external partners like Apple, Google, or equivalent large-scale ecosystems. The candidate should be adept at designing and evolving capabilities that are reusable, scalable, and flexible enough to support multiple product and market scenarios. A deep understanding of designing subscription experiences and systems that function across various markets, payment preferences, and regulatory environments is crucial. The ability to unite teams, navigate ambiguity, and drive outcomes across product, engineering, partnerships, and go-to-market functions is also required.
