Product Counsel, Payments

Stripe is seeking a Product Counsel to join its Product Legal team, focusing on payments. In this role, you will advise product, engineering, and partnerships teams on legal and regulatory matters related to payments, including money transmission, e-money, financial partnerships, payment scheme rules, data privacy, marketing, and monetization. You will collaborate with various teams to support product development and commercialization, draft and negotiate agreements with financial partners, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. Additionally, you will help build scalable processes for legal review and product launches, and stay informed on U.S. and international laws affecting payments and financial services.

The ideal candidate has over five years of experience as a qualified lawyer in a top law firm, in-house legal team, or government agency, working with financial institutions or fintech companies on product legal matters and financial partner negotiations. A Juris Doctor degree is required. Experience counseling product and technical teams on product development and deal structures is essential. A passion for technology, strong communication skills, excellent judgment, and the ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines are also important. An entrepreneurial spirit and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment are highly valued.
